Chanter 225A, 60-61

  1. Population and dissenters: About an Hundred Families in the Parish; thirty of which, or near that Number, are Dissenters of the Presbyterian sort: Teacher’s name John Atkinson: The Meeting-House I have been informed is licensed. One woman in the Parish supposed to be a Roman-Catholick.

  2. Public or charity schools: None.

  3. Alms-house, hospital or charitable endowment: There is an Alms-house for poor People without any Endowment. Annuities amounting to six Pounds per Annum (five Pounds of which are distributed by the Parish in general the other by the Descendants of the Donors) have been left, & are disposed of, I believe, as they ought to be.

  4. Residence upon cure: I serve the Cure myself, & am now resident in the vicarage House: as I am a young Man I have sometimes been with my Father, but have officiated in the Living, ever since I was instituted.

  5. Curate: No Curate.

  6. Divine service at other churches: Only in my Chapel or Church of Wythicombe Rawleigh or occasionally to assist my Neighbour.

  7. Frequency of divine service: Divine Service is performed on Sundays & the greater Festivals of the Church: on other Holy-days I read Prayers at Wythicombe-Rawleigh.

  8. Frequency of communion: Four Times in the year (viz:) at Christmas, Easter, Whitsunday, & Michaelmas.

  9. Number of communicants: About Threescore: near that Number at Easter last.

  10. Catechising of children: Catechising usually begin’s soon after Whitsunday & continues as long as any are sent for that Purpose.

  11. Chapels or chapels in ruins: None.
